They have found three water springs on Zadecha Island! There are logistics to be worked out to make them usable but this is GREAT news!!! Next steps are being taken to move forward. We'll keep you informed as to the progress when we find out more details.
Pray hard! And Rejoice with us!
A HUGE thanks going out to Kelsey and Kassidy O'malley and Marlo Lundak as well as the students and staff at Christ the King School in Omaha. After a snowy week and cancelled school days, Governor Dave Heineman was able to visit the school to honor the local and global efforts of this student body. They have raised about $300 for Garrett's Heart and had a very successful canned food drive for a local charity (that is near and dear to our hearts), Heart Ministry. It's all about the hearts, isn't it?
The girls did an amazing job with the bulletin board and presenting their efforts to the Governor.
The fundraising will continue into mid week this week because of days missed last week.
Thanks, girls! You went above and beyond to help.
I think everyone has been recovering from the holidays. But please don't mistake quiet for "nothin' goin' on" We are still working hard on Zadechu Island!
A new development is that some amazing young ladies here in Omaha are organizing a fundraiser at their school the first week in February. Thank you to Kelsey and Kassidy O'malley for their hard work and dedication to the Zay people.
The fundraisers at their school is drawing the Governor of Nebraska and we are hoping some exposure to the plight of Garrett's friends and birth family.
Pray for God to be glorified and the people to know God!
Please continue to spread the word and encourage people to give to the cause through our website.
Thank you all and God Bless!!
David Henderson just received this email from UCity's Ethiopian staff member:
Yesterday the crew arrived in island late night and the will dig one and test the water so that the second will continue
By His Grace
The crew is from Water Is Life and we are praying they will be able to find drinkable water as they dig
Praise God!!!! Keep Praying!
I am so excited and amazed that, as of this morning, we have raised over $8000 for the island! And more is coming in!
There's still time to get in a donation by the end of the year. Just go to our donate page and use Paypal to help.
The first graders at Harrisburg Elementary in Harrisburg, NC have just made a huge dent in the money needed for Zadecha Island and its people! By sacrificing their ice cream treats for three weeks this month (and maybe a little extra sacrifice thrown in) they have raised $2000 for Garrett's Heart!
Harrisburg 1st graders and Ms. King (Tia and Garrett's teacher, organizer)..... YA'LL ROCK!
Thank you all so much!
I wonder if the people of Zadecha Island, Ethiopia have ever had ice cream....The kids in Harrisburg, NC sure have and they get to enjoy it often as a treat at school. So, Garrett and Tia's teacher organized a fundraiser for the Zay people in which the kids sacrifice their ice cream treats to help the people have clean water and medical care. The entire 1st grade and a fourth grade class are involved with a goal of $500. So far, they have raised well over $300! And there's more ice cream to be sacrficed! Awesome!!!
Thank you, kids, for helping kids just like you have life!
Tia and Garrett are celebrating their first Christmas EVER and have never seen snow! They don't even know what it is!
Go to this link and give them a five star vote and a good comment so that they can get a white Christmas this year!
My heart is filled with joy and thanksgiving this morning as I think about all of the blessings God rains down on us.
This morning, as you prepare for your Thanksgiving Day feast, as you cook that bird, as you wash those potatoes, as you prepare those veggies please think of all those who are struggling through 'just another day.' With no clean water to drink, very little if any food to eat, no 'comforts' of home. Please pray for the people of Zadecha Island and everywhere who are suffering today. Pray that they would be delivered and pray about how you might help them.
I am overwhelmed to see the Henderson all together this Thanksgiving Day! What an amazing story. What an amazing family. What amazing love. What an incredible God!
The number of hits on this website have been up over 1000 % all day today with visits from people who live in Ethiopia, Canada, Sweden, Germany and all over the US! We have had over 150 people visit just today. I pray that God uses this site to touch people's hearts and minds and spur on their imaginations with way to help the Zay people.
Thanks for all who have visited, those who are already helping financially and those who will help and thise who are helping by spreading the word!!!
